Wind Turbines

Wind farms are now becoming a familiar sight around the country and plans for large off-shore farms mean this is a serious source of clean energy. The smaller turbines can generate power in remote areas or for equipment that cannot be connected to mains electricity.

Typical uses:

  • Charging batteries for yachts and caravans
  • Power generation where no mains exists

FAQs

Q. How much power can be generated?
A. Typically 12 volts D.C. - 0.5 amps in 12 knot wind up to 10 amps in 20 knot wind. No wind - no power: A hybrid system combining wind and PV is a better option.

Q. How can this power be used?
A. Wind generated power can be used to charge rechargeable batteries (Lead-acid, Nickel-Cadmium or Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries).

To produce mains voltage A.C. power a device called an inverter is required.

Sirena Environmental designs and installs the best system for your application. We are not tied to one supplier. For more information contact us.
